Frat Cup Round 2
Balgownie Rangers vs Oak flat Falcons
Crehan Park
21/02/2019
Balgownie Rangers had a tough matchup in their second match of the year against the Oak Flat Falcons.
With the wind in their sails after their first win, Balgownie dominated the opening exchanges with early chances to Jim Youssef and Chris Hollingshead. Oak flats then returned fire, forcing several saves from James McClelland. This left both teams scoreless at half time.
The second half was eagerly anticipated, but unfortunately the Falcons ran away quickly, showing superior fitness. Penetrating runs and dominance in possession gave them a well deserved 3-0 victory.
On the upside, congratulations to all the youth graders who have made their first grade debut in the Cup (4 at this moment), and the return of Alex Morlando from surgery.
Stay tuned for the report on tonights match, where the Rangers take on Shell Cove, with all spots in the group still up for grabs!
Up the Rangers!

Frat Cup Round 1
Balgownie Rangers vs Picton Rangers
Barrack Heights Oval
17/02/2019
Balgownie Rangers got off to the perfect start to the season in their opening Frat cup match against the newly relegated Picton Rangers.
In a game of many chances, Balgownie had the slight advantage throughout the first half, while Picton turned on the heat towards the end of the match.
In the end, a single goal split the teams scored by midfielder Jim Youssef with a delicate left footed chip from 20 yards out in the first half.
At the other end, Hugh Bahnert was dominant between the posts earning his first clean sheet for the season.
Final score: 1-0 to Balgownie
Up the Rangers!
