No Game this week due to Anzac Day.
Division One
BRFC 0 (0) Vs. Fernhill 6 (3)
A game probably best forgotten by the Rangers after a very below par display from most if not all players. Sometimes things just don’t work and this was one of those days.
Three goals in each half saw Fernhill dominate the game, however we failed to take our chances early on in the game which may have changed the outcome.
Coming back from 3 goals down at half time was a big ask – we played a little better – but no nearly enough to cause them any problems.

It was a great effort by all the girls to bring home the points but it wasn’t without a bit of stress on my part. Kiama played long balls most of the game so we tried to keep the ball on the ground and play feet and looked the much better football team when we did this. Our pace our wide and up front turned the Kiama defence inside out and we looked dangerous every single time we went wide. We got in behind their backline on numerous occasions and chances were coming thick and fast. We got a well deserved goal to lead at halftime but to be honest the game should have been over by this stage. 5 or 6 by halftime should have been the score.
We came out in the second half and continued to bombard the Kiama goal. As is the way in football a lapse in concentration gave Kiama an equaliser but we were not going to give up 2 points after all the hard work we put in. (And I had to get home and wasn’t going home with anything less than 3 points) So we pushed again and 5 minutes from time we got the winner.
Finishing our chances is something we need to work on and we all know that. In saying that though we played good football to create these chances and its only a matter of time. I love the ‘never give up’ attitude the team showed and that’s what Balgownie is all about. Well done girls.
The only downer to come out of the match was the injury to Shaye who had to be carried off and taken to hospital with an ankle injury. Fortunately for us there was no break but bad soft tissue damage will mean she may be watching the next few games from the sideline. She is in good spirits and keen to get back as soon as possible. We wish her a quick recovery.
Till next week
Take care
Coach Umberto
