Balgownie Soccer working bee circa 1986-1989

Balgownie Soccer working bee circa 1986-1989 at Judy Masters Oval

The below 8 pictures relate to a working bee at Judy Masters Oval in the mid to late eighties, which both the Junior and Senior Clubs attended. Various faces are familiar to myself (Mario Vescio, Torbin Christiansen, Dave Devenney, Ian Drain, Noel Bone, Mr Jenkins, Geoff Burling and Eric Thompson just to name a few) and it is interesting to see how Judy Masters Oval has changed since these pictures were taken (the substitute benches being on the eastern side of the ground, the lack of sponsorship signs, the Clubhouse having no awning off it et cetera). Enjoy and remember if you have any pictures of connection to Balgownie then please send them through to the website on info@balgownierangers.com.au or mesokurtic@yahoo.com.au

Picture Below: Jason Zakara enjoying a refreshing ale after a good all round performance up front. Jason set up Paolo’s winning goal with a great cross from the left hand side in the 38th minute of the first half. The concrete man (Paolo) received the ball 10 yards from goal and hammered it in with his left peg. The Rangers now meet Bulli in the Grand Final next week at Crehan Park.

Well Done Boys!
